As the author of the book, More Than ‘Just a Game’, I’ll start off the thread. Admittedly, there are sections in the early part of the book that might have seemed useless or tedious. This ratio to wood calculation is going to be lower for the higher bowlers, in the majority of cases, but not all of them. The more 9s and 10s you can salvage per open frame, the lower the number, which is a good thing.

Tracking ‘whiffs’ is intended as a means of improving a person’s bowling, which would be getting an individual into the habit of taking a little extra time on the third ball to either complete the job on making a strike count to its maximum, or to encourage a person not to make the same mistake twice upon following a spare count.

A new statistic has been added to the T3 League website and weekly booklet. A “Whiff” will be tracked from here on. A “Whiff” in this instance, occurs after a spare or strike is rolled.
