    • Bowling
When you spend lots of years in bowling alleys, you see and experience many things -- a lot of it is funny stuff.  One of the bowlers that I grew up with, at the lanes, was probably about 15 to 20 years older than me, but I learned a lot from him in regard to general knowledge.  But, when it came to bowling, he was a bit stubborn, and wasn't open to receiving bowling tips, despite the fact that his average was on the low side.  We were practice bowling one day, and the proprietor was watching us, and noticed that we both used the 3-step delivery.  Noticing that both of us would start our approach from the edge of the lane, the owner, Don Collier, suggested going to a 4-step approach.  I was open to the idea and tried it, and it worked really well for me.  My friend, however, wasn't open to this kind of tip.  After Collier explained to him the sensibility of it, my friend decided to appease Mr. Collier, by simply putting his left foot about a half step in front of him, and then he continued to use the 3-step approach.  It was actually laughable at the time, but I would imagine the proprietor went back shaking his head over that compromise.
